It feels like a novelty and one more thing that can go wrong.

Also, does the average person want a home in which one of the walls in each room is a solid piece of glass?
This creates a sense of vulnerability.

In their domestic architecture, people seem to prefer tradition, domesticity, security, and convention.
It might be more appealing to create such an autonomous house as a hybrid with a kasbah, which is a traditional fortified house.
In fact, an autonomous house coupled to a kasbah would make the house even more fortified.
And that is what most people want from a house.
Almost no one is thinking about global warming when they buy or build a house.
